Monday, June 23. Kigali Airport, Rwanda.
I’m on my way home. Said my goodbyes at Shirley’s house. Tupo was very sweet and even got emotional when we said our goodbyes. Shirley was effusive with thanks and pleased when I wrote a $100 check to RAUW, for one of the orphanages it supports, and also set aside $100 for high school tuition for Yolande’s daughter.
Many people ask me during these last days if I’ll be returning to Rwanda. Shirley keeps saying it’s bound to happen, as if it were already etched on a chart of my destiny, a fait accompli.
